Biographies of our 2017 ABC/Bosnia Project W&M team:

~Hello! My name is Jasmine Curry, I’m an International Relations and French double major. I hope to work with sustainable international development in the future. Currently on campus, I work at the Williamsburg Child Care Center with children from 5 months old to 5 years old – and I really love my work there. I just got back from a semester in Montpellier, France with a mixed cultural household and so I’m really looking forward to discovering Bosnian culture (especially food and film) this summer! ~Hi everyone! My name is Salma Elsayed-Ali and I am a rising junior double majoring in Global Studies and Business. At William & Mary, I am involved with various multicultural and diversity organizations. During my free time, I love to make art, play soccer, travel, and learn new languages. I greatly look forward to participating in the ABC Project in Bosnia and working with my fellow students and co-teachers to make this summer’s program both fun and engaging. ~Hello! My name is Evan King and I am a junior studying international relations with a focus on Latin America and Post-conflict resolution.  I was raised in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. My father is an award winning documentary filmmaker who made his name as a combat camera in the first Persian Gulf War. Naturally, he has made it his mission to instill in me the same kind of appreciation for the visual arts that inspired him to risk his life for the craft. I became interested in the Bosnia Project because it presented an opportunity to make an impact on the lives of young children who, like me, may have grown up in an environment where non-violent/creative methods of expression are not a fundamental aspect of public education. I wish to introduce these children to the powerful tool that is film, empower them to make sense of the world around them and, in time, create waves of change in their community through healthier forms of expression. ~Hello! My name is Carolyn Meyers but you can call me by my nickname Carey. I am a junior at William & Mary working towards a major in government and a minor in history. After completing my undergraduate degree I plan to get my Master’s in secondary education. It is my goal to teach at an international school someday so you can understand why I’m so excited by this opportunity! In addition to school I also tutor and play rugby. I love rugby and am so happy that I have an opportunity to play. It’s probably the first sport I’ve ever been decent at. I’m excited to teach together and get to know one another. ~Hello everybody! My name is Aaron Spitler, I’m a sophomore studying sociology at the college and I’m so excited to be a part of this team! My passion is multiculturalism and cross-cultural dialogue, using it to understand each other and turn strangers into friends! I’m hoping to build on these skills during my stay in Sarajevo and gain a greater understanding of the Bosnian people and culture along the way. But most importantly, I love working with kids and believe that they are the key to a more vibrant and optimistic future. You can reach me by email at and I look forward to working with you all!;;;;
